It took me over 32 years to find one of the coolest hobbies I have ever done! Gold panning can be one of the neatest things you can do! The first time I went panning was about 3 months ago. Me and my dad decided to go to Dahlonega, Ga for our first prospecting experience. It took about 3 hours to get there from Alabama and we were shocked!
Atlanta has spread all the way into Dahlonega and there were houses on every block. We drove around for a few minutes and finally found their empty lake. It was a great idea; people have probably never been to some areas in many years! The levels were super low and we instantly felt the importance of water.
We parked at the doc and walked down the lake side and found a really nice outcropping of Quart. We pecked around for awhile hoping to find a Gold band. We ended up walked about a mile down the lake and turned around and decided to leave. We drove east of Dahlonega and found a really nice flowing stream.
As soon as I got in the stream I could see that there were many different kinds of rock and minerals in the water. I sunk the pan in and pulled it up and let the water wash the top sand off. That is when I saw this very pretty yellow on the bottom of the pan. I screamed "I found gold!" My dad come over and he laughed and said that is fools gold. It was everywhere and if you tried to break it would crumble apart. We didn't find any Gold but we did have a fun day and got to see a very awesome river for a short time!
If you didn't know about gold here is a little info to get you started.
First, is a very heavy yellow metal. It has a specific gravity of 19.3 which means a quart of gold would weigh 19.3 times as much as a quart of water. As a comparison, lead has a specific gravity of about 11 so gold is almost twice as heavy as lead.
• Malleable and Ductile. It can be hammered so thin that 250,000 sheets would be one inch high! One ounce can be drawn into a wire thirty five miles long.
• Gold is never found pure in nature. It is usually alloyed with copper, silver and/or platinum.
• Gold is so heavy it will act differently than the other material. So if you pan correctly it will stay in the bottom of your Pan!
• Gold has a shiny structure and looks about the same in and out of the light.
• Not sure you if you found gold? Take a hammer and if it breaks, you're out of luck. If it is Gold It will bend and not break!
• Not recommended for beginners -get some Nitric acid and drop it in there. If it doesn't react then you may have Gold! Nitric acid is dangerous if it gets on you or you breathe the fumes it can hurt you! Research how to use it!
Where to find gold
1. A Stream passes through many miles of different minerals.
2. The density is ten times that of common sand! Therefore it naturally falls to the lower place in a stream.
3. A new supply can be found annually. Spring showers always wash new Gold down creek.
4. Being on the river can be a way to spend day.
5. It can be hard to get on properties these days, stick to public bridges. We do have the right of way in the streams!
6. The placer gold sometimes may lead a trail to the mother lode. If you find it you may never have to work again!
Which Streams contain gold?
There are 4 characteristics that you need to find gold!
1. The Stream can not be damned and flow freely.
2. You need to have rich mineral content in the area.
3. The creek needs enough elevation to churn in spring floods.
4. Stream path and rock formations facilitate the deposition of the dense materials (gold, lead, iron, mercury etc.)
Gold is found as the free metal and in tellurides. It is widely distributed and almost always associated with pyrite or quartz. Gold veins can be found in alluvial deposits. If you find a vein of quart peck around on it and be sure and look very good! People have found Quart rocks with gold all through it.
I have read that if you find black sand that is a great place to look for Gold! Another place to look is around a big rock or by an old log! That is where you may find a nice nugget that has been hiding for years!

A cupola brings in cooler air, while allowing warm air to escape. Our forefathers understood that by removing the hot, moist, stagnant air from the attic promoted longevity for the roofing structure. Printed articles have said, cupolas were the early form of air conditioning.

Adding a cupola to the roof allows a way for the heat trapped to escape, by providing a natural flow of warm, moist air in an upward direction through the sides of the cupola. This movement of air eliminates mold, mildew, wood rot and musty odors. Other benefits include overall airflow and light to be filtered to the inside.
When purchasing a cupola for roof ventilation, a hole needs to be cut into the roof. It is recommended that the hole be six inches less than the outer base of the cupola. When installing a ventilating cupola metal flashing needs to be applied around the base to provide a leak proff seal. It is beneficial to work with a qualified contractor when doing this.

I said we would see unemployment rising. In the US it is at a 26 year high. In the younger age groups unemployment is rising astronomically. For example in the 18-26 age group it is at 50%. I said that we would see more civil unrest and as Uranus goes into Aries in March of this year, we will see unrest in a way that we have not seen before. We are the start of it. Uranus represents the movement of youth the young people are dissatisfied, the young people are asking themselves what future do we have? Tuition fees for universities going up astronomically in the UK is it any wonder they were out revolting?

We will see greater taxes property taxes are increasing already, wages are going down, prices of essentials are going up and taxes are going up. In NZ, the authorities are so strapped for cash that they are chasing small amounts of money even or . They are chasing the average person and trying to wipe him out.
With the waning square of Pluto to Uranus we will see more dissatisfaction because people are feeling more and more restricted and many are saying to themselves what do I have to lose? I may as well go all out and fight for what I want now.
I predicted that government leaders would get voted in and out of office. Look at what happened in Australia where Kevin Rudd was voted out after only a year by his own party. In the mid-term elections in the US there was a sweeping turn of events and a change of the balance of power. During the Great Depression there was a powerful shift in the political direction of the USA and Germany. In the USA it was the new era of Franklin D Roosevelt and the rise of Nazism in Germany. In 2010 it was the Tea Party movement that turned the mid-term elections in the USA on its head, bringing about one of the most sweeping changes in legislative control in 70 years. Another financial crisis is likely in the next 3-4 years.
I predicted more natural disasters than ever before and in 2010 there was a massive earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand and the seismologists were unaware of a fault in that region. There are have been hundreds of aftershocks in the ensuing months causing more damage to properties and infrastructure. In Queensland, Australia there is huge flooding with many parts of Brisbane being evacuated with the potential for more rains to come. Since January 2010 we have seen over 300,000 killed in Latin America alone due to natural disasters. With Pluto in hard aspect to Uranus there will be more and more disasters from earthquakes, volcanoes erupting and tsunamis unfolding around the world.
Neptune changes sign briefly this year and properly in February of 2012. It comes into its own sign of Pisces. I predict that we will see a lot more flooding. We are already seeing it in Australia right now. I predict that we will see towns and even cities just disappearing in the twinkling of an eye.
With Neptune in Pisces we will probably see a water crisis, a proliferation of water borne diseases, issues around drugs and pharmaceuticals. We will also have a parallel universe going on. On the one hand there will be all this fighting and revolting and people being very with the Uranus and Pluto square and then on the other hand we have Neptune going into Pisces. This brings about groups of people and parts of society who will live on a completely different plane. They are not looking at any of the strife. They withdraw from society and they want a simpler, easier life. They might live in communities, retreat into nature and be with other people who have similar ideals. We will see people who will want more leisure, more pleasure and less stress. They will be opting out from the mainstream.

1. Horse Shows for Point Score Accumulation
Riders in some of our local shows must accumulate a total of 35 points to point out of their class division and move on to the next level. Doing so would qualify them to compete in Regionals with the possibility of moving on to Zones and then Nationals.
The programmed events at horse shows include barrels, stick horse barrels, dummy roping, poles, goat ribbon pull, goat tying and keyhole. Age groups are 6 and under (parents may help), 7 to 9, 10 to 13 and 14 to 18.
2. Horse Show Eventing is Great Fun for Riders and Spectators Alike
Eventing is a different type of horse show, and an equestrian triathalon in which dressage, cross-country jumping, and show-jumping are combined to make up the competition. It began as a test of cavalry horses, to measure whether they were able to perform several different types of riding.
Events take place 8am-5pm with several opportunities to see horse jumping and great vendors. Stop out and watch the jumping, go shopping and have some food!
Competitors must perform on a course that contains simulations of natural obstacles such as stone walls and wooden fences, and they are judged on their jumping style. In the jumper division, horses and riders are tested in their ability to jump fences cleanly and quickly. Competition plays a role but the students' enthusiasm and team spirit are the major factors.
Competitive riders constantly strive to upgrade their skills and risk uncertainties of competition to grow as riders and as persons. Anyone interested in learning to ride a horse for pleasure, therapy, and/or competition should understand that riding well is the result of mutual confidence and effort on the parts of the rider, horse, and coach/instructor.
3. Childrens Horse Shows
Horse shows add a level of complexity and stress to riding and what is usually a joy for young children. Horse shows are an athletic event and your horse is the athlete.
Horse shows are not necessarily always best for all children due to the excitement and stress levels involved. But mostly they are a very good experience for very young riders, so make sure they are ready before pushing them too hard to start.
